Crabbe Comes Up Big for the Lightning

In an 8-8 ballgame in the top of the 8th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd Cameron Crabbe (Concordia) came up to the plate to face hard throwing Andrew Lysy (Rowan) with two outs.  In a 2 and 2 count Crabbe scorched a 90 MPH fastball between the 1st and 3rd baseman giving the Lightning a 10-8 lead.  Peter Castillo (Palm Beach State) got the win on the night throwing 1.2 innings a striking out 3 batters.  Lightning pitcher Kyle Bender (La Grange) got the save shutting down the Pompano Beach Clippers in the bottom of the 9th inning.

The Clippers had good performances by Evan Dougherty (Duke) who went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Carlos Pena (Wabash Valley) who went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's and Steven Kerr (Florida Atlantic) who went 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI.

The 1st place Clippers suffered their 3rd loss of the season and the Lightning continue their playoff hunt this Friday evening  at 6:30PM vs the West Palm Beach Sharks at Miller Park.
