Meet Lightning Player Development Director Joe Arnold

Joe Arnold, a living legend of the game has been involved with the game of baseball for more than 40 years. Joe was the East Coast Scouting Supervisor for the NY Yankees for 11 years, winning four World Series with the Yankees. Joe also coached in the New York Yankees organization and coached at Arizona State University. Arnold has known success at all levels of the game. He coached at Florida Southern College from 1977 to 1983, leading the Mocs to two NCAA Division II World Series titles and six consecutive World Series appearances. He moved on to coach at the University of Florida from 1984 to 1994, guiding the Gators to two NCAA World Series appearances before becoming a coach and scout in the New York Yankees organization. With the Yankees, he won two New York-Penn League championships as a minor league manager, signed more than 160 players as a scout and won 4 World Series Championships. Arnold retired and returned to Central Florida in 2007, but couldn't stay away from the game accepting the job at Polk State College, which is near his Lakeland home. Joe is also a member of 5 different halls of fame and has been drafted three times in the 3rd, 4th and 10th round of the MLB Draft by the Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles. Joe also coached David Eckstein at the University of Florida. Joe is also Head Evaluator at GetMyNameOut.com located in Tampa, FL and Director of Player Development for the Utica Brewers of the NYCBL.
