Lightning Capture 2022 SFCBL Championship

The Delray Beach Lightning won their first ever SFCBL Championship after defeating the Palm Beach Xtreme in the three game Championship Series on Sunday July 24th.

Game 1 Recap: The Lightning defeated the Xtreme 3-0 after a stellar pitching performance by LHP Grant Shepherd (Winthrop) who threw 7 innings striking out 8 batters and giving up only 2 hits. The Lightning offense was lead by Casey Kleinman (Santa Clara) and Marco Navarro (New Orleans) who both had 2 hits. Kleinman hit a solo home run in the top of the 7th inning.

Game 2 Recap: The Lightning defeated the Xtreme 11-9 in a slugfest which featured plenty of offense to keep fans on their feat. RHP Max Charnin (Florida Memorial) had an excellent start throwing 5 innings, striking out 3 batters and giving up 1 run. The Lightning offense was led by Eddie Novoa (Fairleigh Dickinson), Casey Kleinman (Santa Clara), Jack Metcho (Pacific) and Chris Ruckdeschel (Florida). Ruckdeschel hit a mammoth 2-run home run which proved to be the game winning home run breaking an 8-8 tie. Jake Nolan (Elon) earned the save throwing 1 inning and striking out 1 batter.
